Her work has been published in “Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts, Conversations” by Rebecca Crowell and Jerry McLaughlin, and her art and written articles have been published in the Encaustic Arts Magazine, DESTIG, Western Art and Architecture, and Spokane Living. She has taught her Color and Design Painting workshops in the US and abroad, including several workshops in Mexico, Ireland, New Zealand, Canada, and the US.
She established her own online Art School in 2018, and her work is in numerous collections here and abroad including the University of Wisconsin, University of Montana, Nicolaysen Museum of Art (Casper, Wyoming) and the Missoula Art Museum (Missoula, Montana). She is an internationally known instructor in cold wax/oil and encaustic, mixed media and acrylic and was recently selected as juror for the Mark Arts Abstract National Exhibition in Wichita, KS, 2024.
Caughey works in many media, including oil, encaustic, mixed media, and acrylic. Her current abstract expressionist work represents her evolution as an artist over 3 decades.
She writes: “Rather than literal renderings of my environment, I strive to create emotional content. Being surrounded by mountains, valleys, forests and sunlit meadows is a great inspiration to the senses, but when I paint, my colors, surfaces and tools entice me to explore the unknown. Rather than paint what I see and understand, I paint without knowing and hope I will discover something. I strive for a finished painting that expresses something that can’t be verbalized, only visualized and experienced.”
