Tolla Inbar

Artist Information

Tolla Inbar, born in Germany in 1958, pursued her passion for ceramics and sculpture at school in Stuttgart before immigrating to Israel. There, she balanced her artistic pursuits with academics, earning a B.A. in psychology and sociology from Tel Aviv University. Her studies significantly influenced her artistic expression, leading her to explore the traditions of modern art.

Inbar’s artistic journey has seen her evolve from realistic and figurative works to more expressive and semi-abstract forms. Utilizing the ancient technique of bronze casting, her sculptures delve into universal questions about existence and the universe’s complexity. Movement is a prominent theme in her work, as she uses the metaphor of climbing on stairs, ladders, and ropes to symbolize the individual path toward spiritual fulfillment. According to Tolla, the soul reflects the universe and drives our ambitions and aspirations.

Since 1995, Tolla has developed a unique, naturalistic style, blending wood, metal, glass, and bronze to create both maquettes and monumental sculptures. Her works are celebrated by private and corporate collectors worldwide, marking her as a distinguished figure in contemporary sculpture.
